The Door Is Open is a drop in
centre located at 373 East Cordova Street, in the heart of East Vancouver. The Centre
supports the needs of hundreds of less fortunate people in the downtown east side. Many of
our guests have compounding difficulties such as drug and alcohol addiction, physical and
mental handicaps as well as maturing life stages and many other impairments.
At the Door Is Open, we provide
food, clothing, a warm and safe environment and as much useful information as possible to
facilitate the ease of life for street people that so many of us take for granted. Our
consistent service, positive role models, and unconditional acceptance are what have
allowed us to develop a trusting friendship with our clientele. It is our hope that this
environment will provide a good example for these people and give them the chance to
improve their lives.
