Thank you to St. Augustine’s Parish, Vancouver, for increasing their monthly Food Drive to a twice monthly collection! This generous program was started in 2016 by a group of parishioners attending a Bible study at St. Augustine’s, reflecting on a way to recognize the Year of Mercy. They visited The Door is Open to determine which foods were most needed, and arranged volunteers to organize regular collections and delivery to The Door is Open. With recent reductions in the Food Bank’s weekly contributions to The Door is Open, the food donations from St. Augustine’s is greatly appreciated and put to good use in our daily lunch preparations. Sr. Chita was very happy to be able to visit St Augustine’s Parish recently to meet and personally thank The Door is Open collection organizing committee, as well as the parishioners for their continuing support and generosity.
